Self-Care Sundays: How to Bring CBD into Your Nighttime Ritual
Posted on September 11 2017
What has been perceived as “unnecessary” self-indulgence for years is now being promoted as totally imperative self-care (f-ing finally). Whether we're opening our phones to devastating news stories all day long to trying to navigate our own families and careers, we all need to stop and take time to ourselves to breathe. This should not be an “every now and then” type of practice; self-care needs to be consistent and occur often.
But while winding down with your favorite pipe and some Indica is a great place to start, there are also other ways you can incorporate cannabis— in this case, CBD— in your self-care routine. Added bonus: CBD is proven to benefit skin in many different ways. This routine isn’t just to benefit your mental health; your skin will absolutely thank you, as well.
Hello, Self-Care Sunday. We’ve been waiting for you all damn week.
Step one: Get clean
A relaxing bubble bath never seemed more appealing now that CBD bath bombs exist. I may be biased, but our lavender bath bombs are by far the best thing to enter my life since HBO Go became a thing, and they are utterly affordable at just $20. USDA certified organic, the bombs' colors are derived from natural plants and essential oils, and they are 50mg each. After 20 minutes, normal bath bombs leave your skin feeling dry, since they can contain tons of baking soda with added fragrances. Our rose bath bomb will leave you smelling like natural roses.
Your skin will be soft and moisturized because it absorbs all the CBD oil along with our secret blend of essential oils. A few candles, some healing crystals, and soothing music will make this CBD-infused bath time an extremely special and sacred time.
Step two: moisturize

There are dozens and dozens of CBD lotions on the market at the moment, which is something I’d always hoped I would someday get to say. They tend to be a little pricey, but you’re getting a lot out of what you’re paying for.
Right out of the tub, and while your skin is the most supple and open for nutrients, massage the lotion onto your skin, focusing on areas that are sore such as your shoulders or feet. My personal favorite is from Im·Bue Botanicals. Their CBD lotion contains Colorado-grown CBD oil and lactic acid, which aids in exfoliation. It’s also jam-packed with antioxidants.
Step three: brew some tea
Consuming organic CBD hemp tea is just an option for this part, as your body has already absorbed a good amount of CBD by this point. But, since hemp-derived CBD is non-psychoactive, you’re totally fine if you do brew up some delicious calming tea.
Along with helping you wind down and fall asleep, consuming CBD tea can help soothe nausea, relieve stress, and it can even aid in digestion.
Step four: read something positive
You are in a heightened, relaxed state by this point, so it's time to absorb and radiate some positivity. One of the biggest mistakes we all are guilty of making is scrolling our social media newsfeeds right before bed. Please do not. You are bound to read negative headlines and statuses, and you just do not need to be doing that immediately after your soothing self-care routine (and you really shouldn’t be doing it within an hour of going to bed, either).
I personally like to read my horoscope for the week and meditate on how I can make the best of what’s to come, whether that be personal challenges or exciting adventures. But, you can read anything that brings you joy. Be it a self-help book, an inspirational non-fiction story, or a fantastical treat, reading something that brings you joy will help soothe your soul and put you in a positive mindset for the week.
We’d love to hear all about your self-care routine! Tag us on social media and show us how you incorporate CBD and/or cannabis into your Self-Care Sundays.
